We got your back.

Bowel Scout is a community restroom finder built around a simple need: knowing where to stop before you really need to stop. It began with finding bathrooms around Los Angeles and now brings together mapped facilities, California businesses and approved visitor reports across the state.

A map for the moment, detail for the decision

The map stays at the center of the experience. Use a city, ZIP code or your browser location to explore nearby places, then open a location to see what is actually known. Each real public listing has a separate information page you can read and share without creating an account. A directory pin is only a starting point; a useful stop depends on access, hours and your own needs.

Our promise about information

We do not turn a restaurant or store address into a claim that it offers a bathroom. We separate unconfirmed business locations from explicitly mapped toilets, operator-listed facilities and moderated access reports. An approved contribution means it passed our moderation process; it does not mean Bowel Scout inspected the building. Missing details stay missing until someone supplies evidence.

Built with the community

Visitors can browse the map and public information pages freely. Verified members can save stops, rate an actual bathroom visit and submit empty-facility photos. Reviews use a five-poop bathroom scale, separate from a restaurant’s food or overall business rating. Contributions wait for review before publication. Roles and contribution badges help recognize participation, but a badge is not a guarantee of accuracy.

Businesses and corrections

A business representative can request ownership of a listing. Staff independently check authorization before approving business changes or publishing a business-supplied access code. Community members should direct visitors to the front desk instead of sharing door codes. If a place closes or information is wrong, use its map suggestion action or send a correction.

Still growing, with care

The website is an evolving project. Coverage reflects available data and contributions, not every bathroom in every town. We would rather show a clear uncertainty than invent a convenient answer. Our aim is to make planning a little easier, while respecting property owners, privacy and the people who use these spaces.
